How we publish
Editorial policy
Our guides should help someone make a better decision, not merely create another search result.
Source standards
For food safety, public benefits, and federal programs, we prefer the responsible government agency. For preservation and agriculture, we also use research-based university extension resources. We distinguish evidence from practical suggestions and link sources at the end of each article.
No invented local knowledge
We do not fabricate first-hand visits, vendor interviews, “hidden gems,” or current crop availability. Programmatic market pages are built from structured source records and label missing fields honestly.
Dates and revisions
Articles show a publication or updated date. Material changes—such as revised agency guidance or a redesigned tool—should update that date. Routine spelling and formatting fixes may not.
Photography
Editorial photography is downloaded from Pexels under its content license, renamed descriptively, resized, converted to WebP, and served locally. Each article credits and links to the original photo. We do not reuse the same image across multiple editorial guides.
Commercial independence
The site currently does not sell rankings or accept payment for placement. If sponsorship or affiliate relationships are introduced, they should be disclosed near the affected content and must not determine factual directory fields.
Corrections
Send a specific correction and supporting official link to hello@localfarmersmarketfinder.com. Directory managers should also update their USDA Local Food Directory record so the correction reaches the source.
